After months of nearly getting it, yesterday Lewis finally started crawling! Little Finn from next door was over, and Lewis was watching him intently as he crawled around. By the end of the day Lewis could get past his normal 2 crawls then collapse, to crawling a few metres! And at swimming lesson this morning, he crawled along the mat to get a toy.
I'm so proud and also relieved! It's been a long time coming, and he has been whinging pretty much from 3 months when he started rolling and would get stuck. Then he figured out pushing himself up to sitting, but when he tried to do the crawling movement, he would slide down to flat on his tummy. And whinge! We've been saying for well over a month that he would be crawling by the end of the week, but it never quite happened. I guess those muscles take a long time to develop.
He's an early crawler I think (a bit over 7 months) and I reckon he'll be walking very soon. His favourite game now is pulling himself up and moving along.
I'm about to head to Bunnings to get some baby-proofing gear. We have been in denial up until this point! We are also going to get another Ikea Expedit bookcase, so that we can move all the boyfriend's records up to the top shelf out of reach. Not really looking forward to Ikea - I normally get a bit overwhelmed - but they seem to have some nice, cheap doona covers at the moment which I might just have to buy!
